West Ham United could really take heart from their resilient performance against Manchester United after their terrible defeat to Spurs last week and the positive result couldn’t have come at a better time as they face United once again in the EFL Cup in the midweek.
Here are the player ratings from the match.
West Ham United Player Ratings
Randolph (8.5/10)- Old Trafford nights have this innate ability to bring out the best from goalkeepers and it was no different this time. After Heaton, it was Randolph of West Ham who produced a man of the match performance against the home side.
The Irish produced brilliant saves to deny Rashford, Lingard, and Pogba on their home ground.
Kouyate (7.5/10)- Although West Ham United had little to offer at the front, their defence remained busy through the game obliterating United’s attacks. Although he was given a testing time down his flank by the pace of Rashford, he remained solid. Made 8 clearances.
Collins (6.5/10)- He was brought into the lineup following the suspension of Winston Reid after their frustrating draw against Tottenham last week. It was very poor to allow Ibrahimovic to get away from him for the equaliser. Otherwise, he was disciplined throughout the match.
Ogbonna (7.5/10)- He was one of the better defenders on the day. Made 8 clearances, won 3 aerial duels, made 3 interceptions and recovered the ball 4 times. He made the all-important block on stroke of half-time to deny Ibrahimovic, which otherwise would have seen the result differently.
Cresswell (7/10)- Didn’t have the best of games as he was often found giving ample space to Valencia and the Ecuador took advantage of it. He was also booked.
