Tottenham Hotspur’s persistence paid dividends towards the end as the North London outfit were able to snatch all three points with Harry Kane scoring twice in the final minutes of the game. West Ham United were dominant of the two sides in the first half but Tottenham grew into the game in the second half. Despite holding on well for the majority of the second half, West Ham finally succumbed to the pressure after the introduction of Heung-Min Son. Below are Tottenham’s individual player ratings:
Hugo Lloris: 7/10
The Frenchman was decisive and did well to come off the line on a few occasions. He also made a few decent saves.
Danny Rose: 7.5/10
Danny Rose was offensively very influential and his duel with Michail Antonio grew really interesting. Rose made a few defensive errors too but played really well for the majority of the game.
Eric Dier: 7/10
Eric Dier did well at the back but still lacked the instinctive ability of positioning during set-pieces and dealing with aerial duels. His header from close range was excellent but Randolph successfully denied him with an exceptional save.
Jan Vertonghen: 8/10
The Belgian centre-back did really well at the back and made an inch-perfect challenge on Dmitri Payet to prevent him from shooting.
Kyle Walker: 8/10
Kyle Walker made some excellent run through the right channel and helped Tottenham create the much-needed width on the right side without Tottenham playing any actual winger on the right.
Victor Wanyama: 7/10
Wanyama had a good game and he also made a few runs towards the end to help Tottenham add numbers up ahead.
Harry Winks: 7.5/10
Harry Winks was quite incisive in his passing and linked up quite well with the players around him. He also got a goal on his debut start for Tottenham as he volleyed the ball from close range.
Mousa Dembele: 7/10
Dembele failed to dominate West Ham’s midfield initially but grew well into the game as it progressed.
