Mateo Kovacic (7.5/10): Kovacic was very good throughout the game with his passes. He looked comfortable in possession and wasn’t afraid to take on players. Certainly, deserves a praise for the great shift put in by the Croatian International.
Isco (8/10): Isco started in place of rising young talent Marco Asensio. Frequently a subject of a possible departure out of the Bernabeu, Isco successfully proved his worth in the team, after dominating the middle third of the pitch. His delicious lofted ball set up Gareth Bale for Real Madrid’s first goal of the afternoon.
Cristiano Ronaldo (6.5/10): It wasn’t one of the best games for the Portuguese superstar. Poised for his possible contract extension within the coming days, Ronaldo failed to keep up with his teammates or get involved much in the game as he struggled to get past the Leganes defense.
Alvaro Morata (8/10): Even though the Spanish forward didn’t get the opportunity to get involved in the game as much as he was hoping for but he put a great shift in the attack nonetheless and was rightfully rewarded with a goal in the 76th minute.
Gareth Bale (9/10): The best player for Real Madrid against Leganes. The Welshman kept his good form going by scoring a brace in the match and a nice way to start after a recent record-breaking contract extension. Bale is now Real Madrid’s joint top scorer this season along with Cristiano Ronaldo with five goals each.
Substitutes
Luka Modric (7/10): Made a comeback from injury after replacing countryman Mateo Kovacic in the hour mark. The charismatic midfielder continued the good work left by his apprentice and also looked very confident on the ball.
James Rodriguez (7/10): Replaced Isco with just over 20 minutes left to play. James caused terror in the Leganes defense just after coming on as he ran rings around the opposition all over the field.
Lucas Vazquez (6.5/10): Came on late and constantly tested the Leganes backline linking up with his teammates very nicely in the wide areas.
