Middlesbrough gave a good account of themselves at the King Power stadium against Leicester but were left gutted at the end as they conceded a second penalty which allowed the hosts to draw level. In a match where the visitors controlled and dominated, it was really a setback for Karanka to drop 2 points when it looked like they were heading for a win. Let’s see how the Middlesbrough players did in the game.
Valdes (6/10)
Passed the ball calmly from his spot, playing as the sweeper keeper to help build the play from the back. Was beaten twice in the game but both were from spot kicks.
Barragan (6.5/10)
Excellent in his passing, managed to do well defensively to ward off the hosts but was poor with his throws, committing 3 foul throws in the game, 2 of which were given.
Chambers (6/10)
Passed the ball well and won all of his headers but showed lack of intelligence at times with his challenges. Made plenty of clearances but conceded the first penalty which helped Leicester equalise.
Gibson (6.5/10)
Good with his passing and did decently at the back.
Fabio (6/10)
Was afforded a lot of space on the flanks but he couldn’t take advantage of the breaks by failing to deliver quality crosses.
De Roon (6/10)
Made some fine interceptions and managed to keep the ball in the middle but his work was undone when he conceded the penalty right at the end to deny his team maximum points.
Clayton (5.5/10)
Was poor defensively not being able to win the tackles or the headers. Passed the ball accurately though
Forshaw (7/10)
Excellent with his distribution of the ball, provided a lovely assist with a nice ball over the top for Negredo to score the 2nd goal for Boro.
Traore (6/10)
Gave Fuchs a hard time with his pace and trickery. Looked dangerous with his powerful runs but disappointed with his crossing and passing.
Ramirez (7/10)
A hard-working display from the player which included tireless running. Could have passed the ball better but did provide the assist for the first goal and made good use of space in front of him.
Negredo (8.5/10)
Brilliant performance from the striker upfront as he ended his goal drought with two beautifully taken goals. Showed exceptional workrate and was always there to contest the ball aerially. Negredo linked up excellently with his teammates and played some excellent balls to initiate counters as well. Contested for 17 headers and won 9 of them.
Stuani (6/10)
Came on in the 79th minute and helped his side keep the charge on the wide areas winning the headers and passing the ball accurately to keep possession
