Manchester United’s lacklustre performance continued against a West Ham United team who came into the match expecting very little after their heart-breaking defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last week. Manchester United are almost out of the title challenge and their ideal target would be target the top four position but given the fierce competition in that bracket, it looks an uphill task.
Here is how the Manchester United players fared against the Hammers.
Manchester United Player Ratings
De Gea (8/10)– Although it was Manchester United who dominated throughout the game since conceding the first goal as early as in the second minute, De Gea had to keep his concentration right down to the final minutes of the game as Ashley Fletcher had almost emerged with a winner late in the second half.
Darmian (7/10)– Linked up pretty well with Marcus Rashford at times, but could not provide any threatening crosses inside the penalty box. Made 2 clearances throughout the game.
At a night when the team needed the wing backs to contribute more offensively, Darmian was quite average.
Rojo (7/10)– Not quite a top drawer performance but he was quite poised against a West Ham side who looked quite threatening at times.
The Argentine made 2 interceptions and 10 successful clearances from what was mostly scrambled attacks.
Jones (7.5/10)– His return has definitely given United a leader at the back and although they are still struggling to find a perfect combination without Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling, Mourinho looks to have found at least one missing piece of his central defence puzzle.
Valencia (7.5/10)– He could be one of the best right backs in the Premier Leagues for the amount of work rate and stamina he displays, but the Ecuador international falters immensely in the final third while providing the final crosses.
He is otherwise a great dribbler causing problems to many side backs in the opponent’s half. He recovered the ball 6 times today and had 3 successful take-ons.
