Leicester City escaped defeat right at the very end thanks to an Islam Slimani penalty to grab an unlikely point from the game against Boro. The defending champions were poor in their overall gameplay, portraying some amateurish defending at times with very frustrating attacking play. It was a performance which was not worthy of a point which is why grabbing the draw will feel like a victory for the Foxes. Let’s take a look at how the home team’s players fared in the match.
Zieler (4/10)
Poor with his goal kicks which seemed mindless at times and wasteful. Really has done nothing to stake a claim for confirming his spot in the team.
Simpson (4/10)
Woeful in his forward passing and overall gameplay. Was troubled by Ramirez frequently.
Huth (7/10)
Perhaps the only Leicester player who showed some resilience, the German did do his defensive job well with his accurate tackles and clearances. Also managed to win his aerial battles.
Morgan (5.5/10)
Managed to win most of his headers but was also exposed a couple of times at the back.
Fuchs (4/10)
One of his worst performances for Leicester. Fuchs could neither win his tackles nor his aerial duels and was shockingly wayward in his passing. Was owned by Adama Traore on more than one occasion and looked out of sorts.
Mahrez (6/10)
One moment of brilliance in the first half was all he offered in the game. 59% passing accuracy paints the picture. Leicester also failed to bring him into the game.
King (6.5/10)
One of the rare players for the hosts who did decently in the game. Passed the ball well and provided some cover centrally in the midfield.
Amartey (5.5/10)
Lacked the guile of controlling the situation and bring some composure in the middle of the park. Decision making was poor and looked indecisive in his challenges as well making 5 fouls in total.
Albrighton (4/10)
Another one who delivered a shockingly poor performance. Did nothing worth mentioning all game.
Okazaki (6/10)
Worked hard as usual and was unlucky to see his spectacular effort bounce off the post in the first half. Created a wonderful chance for Vardy when he was perhaps better off shooting himself as it went in vain.
Vardy (3/10)
Did he even play the game? In the 65 minutes he was on the pitch he executed 3 passes 2 of which were unsuccessful. Squandered a golden chance to score, played a cross which wasn’t completed and committed a foul which earned him a yellow. That’s it. One of the worst performances by any striker ever in the league as the goal drought extends to 15 matches now.
Slimani (6/10)
Came on for Vardy in the 65th minute and did make an impact in the forward areas. Converted the penalty in the 90th minute to earn his team a point.
Ahmed Musa (6/10)
Showed some nice link up play when he came on, helped bring some forward momentum and finally did serve the purpose as the hosts managed to draw the game.
Gray (N/A)
