Bayern Munich got back on track after a tough week, as they won past a sturdy Leverkusen side 2:1 at the Allianz Arena as they maintain their great form against Die Werkself. Thiago’s header gave Bayern the lead before Hakan Calhanoglu equalised for Roger Schmidt’s side within the first half. Mats Hummels’ header in the second half proved to be the winner for the Bavarians.
Here are the Bayern Munich players rated from their win Vs Bayer Leverkusen.
Manuel Neuer (6.5/10): Got back into the side after an injury, had shades of uncertainty in his play and could have a lot better against Calhanoglu. Was decent overall, despite not being tested too much.
Joshua Kimmich (8/10): Featured as a right back instead of his usual central midfield role. The 21 year performed exceptionally well for Bayern Munich.
Set up Mats Hummels’ goal from a wonderful cross from a corner. The German International is better suited to right back spot it seems.
Javi Martinez (6.5/10): Got back into the side after an injury layoff. Javi Martinez defended well for large parts of the game along with his partner Mats Hummels but showed fragility towards the end stages of the game.
Mats Hummels (9/10): Scored his first Bundesliga goal in a Bayern kit after latching onto a great cross from Joshua Kimmich.
The former Dortmund captain didn’t put a foot wrong and was hardly tested in defence. Great performance from the 27-year-old.
David Alaba (7.5/10): Alaba was decent, caused some good deal of trouble for Benjamin Henrichs on the left side.
Largely spent his time, camping on the opposition half and putting in dangerous crosses.
