Like every season, this season has seen a number of players leave while many have come in on loan to ply their trade in various clubs of the English Premier League. Most of them are young players who are sent out on loans by the clubs for them to gain exposure and playing time.
Loaning a promising player and getting back a much improved and mature product is mostly the thought process which goes into the act but sometimes experienced players are also sent out on loan if they fall out of favour or their career hits some kind of a snag at their parent club.
We will take a look at 3 stand-out Premier League players who have been involved in successful loan moves this season.
NABIL BENTALEB
One of the many midfielders to have graduated from the Tottenham Hotspur academy, the Algerian was unfortunate to have been one amongst many during his emergence for the senior team. Lack of game time and failure to fully grasp his opportunities saw him being sent on loan to Schalke. But as of now, he seems to be one of the success stories of the season as he has been a pivotal figure in Schalke’s astonishing turnaround. He has been deployed as a box-to-box midfielder and has thrived in the role with a large chunk of credit going to Geis, who has been flawless as a defensive midfielder. Bentaleb’s attacking output has also witnessed a spike with the midfielder scoring 4 goals and assisting two other in his last 5 matches.
JACK WILSHERE
Although it might be too early to term him a success, statistically, but there was never a doubt regarding Wilshere’s quality and class. His injury prone nature and subsequent lack of playing time made Wenger decide to take a bold step for the betterment of the England international’s long-term career.
After a tentative start, Wilshere has now completed 4 back to back matches which in itself is a big success for a player with a sketchy track record when it came to minutes. He already looks comfortable on the pitch and is expected to slowly turn into a vital figure for the Cherries this season.
SAMIR NASRI
Opting for a loan move instead of playing a bit-part role in this new City set-up, the midfielder’s move has been justified till now. He has shown enough glimpses of his old self and a hungry and dedicated Nasri is always good news for any club. Sevilla are 3rd in the La Liga and Nasri has had an important part to play in this run. Along with his invention and improved game he has scored 3 goals and assisted another.
