Arsenal fans will be a bit disappointed ahead of the international break after their draw against local rivals Spurs in the recent North London Derby. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have leapfrogged ahead of them as the Gunners now find themselves fourth in the table. They still have plenty to be happy about, though. The Gunners are still unbeaten in all competitions since their loss to Liverpool on the opening day.
Arsenal have played most games this season with Alexis Sanchez operating as a number nine. Olivier Giroud had his struggles with injuries while Lucas Perez had a good impact after joining the Gunners this summer but did not get too many starts. It would be a criminal offence to say that Sanchez has not done well this season up front spearheading the attack but in the North London derby, it was evident that Arsenal were lacking a genuine goal threat up front.
Reports are surfacing that the Gunners are strongly monitoring the growth of Porto forward Andre Silva who has been the revelation of the season so far. Fellow Premier League giants Liverpool, Chelsea, both Manchester clubs and Italian Serie A holders Juventus are also interested in the forward who turned 21 just two days ago if reports are believed to be true.
The Porto sensation has become a regular for the Dragons this season and has already shown that he is destined for big things. With 10 goals from 17 games to his name this season, the Portuguese starlet also burst onto the international stage. 4 goals from 4 games for the Euro cup holders- Andre Silva looks more than capable of ending Portugal’s long search for an able and capable forward.
Andre Silva is just 21 now and has already shown that he could be a complete forward we rarely get to see nowadays. Boasting a big frame of 6 ft 1 in, the 21-year-old excels in the air which is well reflected from his 1.9 aerial balls won every game. The youngster always looks hungry for goals whenever he gets on the pitch which is well reflected from his 3.3 shots per game.
Despite his big physique, Silva is far from a target man. In fact, the Portuguese international loves to come deep and drag into the wide areas in order to create openings for his team.
A major portion of the Arsenal fans have a disliking for Giroud and it looks like Lucas Perez is not a step up on the Frenchman. But in the long run, Andre Silva looks more than capable of filling in the number nine position for the Gunners.
The youngster might lack experience but he has the looks of a special player. That is why almost every European giant is after him. Arsene Wenger is a manager every young player in the world would love to play under. They know that they will get the opportunity to make a name for themselves under Wenger. Arsenal moving for the Portuguese starlet, therefore, makes sense for both parties.
