Mesut Ozil is on the verge of signing a new contract to extend his stay with Arsenal. Ozil will reportedly earn a hefty £200,000 per week that will make him the highest paid footballer at the club.
There have been many speculations regarding Ozil’s future. He has been demanding a significant rise to his current wage £140,000 but Arsenal were not willing to pay that much. Ozil’s contract is due to expire at the end of the next season and he has emerged a possible target for a number of clubs including Manchester United.
Ozil had revealed a few days ago that he snubbed Arsenal before joining Real Madrid as he wanted to play under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese gaffer was also interested in a reunion with one of his former players.
Arsenal are now ready to tie their one of the best players for a contract that is believed to be till 2020. The German playmaker is currently enjoying his life at England and also recently bought a house that indicates his intention.
