Antonio Conte has refused to admit that Chelsea are the Premier League title contenders. The Blues have been in tremendous form as they defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 to register their seventh win in a trot.
Diego Costa’s goal gave the all important win to the Blues who went to the top of the table with 28 points, one point clear of second-placed Liverpool. Conte’s transformation to 3-4-3 has paid dividends as the English side they have now scored 17 goals in their last six matches and the most important thing is they haven’t conceded a single goal.
On being asked about their chances in the Premier League the Italian answered, “Now it’s very difficult to reply to this because if you see the recent past only one and a half months ago and see that Chelsea had two defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal. After these two games, Chelsea wasn’t a favourite or a team that could fight for the title until the end.
“Now it’s very difficult to change completely that opinion. I think we are working very well, but if you ask me what is our target now, I repeat it is very difficult to tell you this.
“I want to wait until the end of the first part of the championship.”
