A catastrophic season prior to this one, which involved a lot of tantrums and helplessness on and off the pitch followed by managerial ramifications and a relatively poor start under the new reign this season: not many would have expected Chelsea to be the table toppers and vehemently impose themselves as a serious candidate to lift the league title.
Quite contrary to the belief of the masses, the Blues have set the tone for what promises to be an excellent domestic season for them under Antonio Conte and despite the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool going toe-to-toe to claim the peak spot in the league table, here are five reasons why we believe that Chelsea can run away with the lucrative piece of silverware in the merry month of May:
Diego Costa’s ability Up Front
Diego Costa might divide opinion among the Premier League viewers, but one thing that must not be taken away from the 28-year-old striker is his prolific goal-scoring attribute and that has indeed been handy for the West London outfit so far this season. Having scored in double figures already with a staggering 0.84 goal per game ratio and a 69% shot accuracy in 12 league appearances, the Spanish international is dictating Chelsea attacking arsenal with due diligence and professionalism.
Squad Depth
The former league champions boast about arguably the best bench strength in the Premier League, which they possess. The likes of Cesc Fàbregas, Michy Batshuayi, Branislav Ivanović, Oscar and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are pining to come into the fray and lend their contribution to the side which pretty much sums up about the assets the Blues have at their disposal.
