2. Roman Burki
Since club legend Roman Weidenfeller started aging,(and seemingly being a liability), Dortmund have found it really hard to replace the 36-year-old goalkeeper.
Last season, the club signed Swiss International goalkeeper Roman Burki, after he was sensational in Freiburg relegation season, for a relatively low amount of just 3.5 million euros.
However, the performances of Burki, especially in the Hinrunde last season, were far from good, his awful game against Bayern, in a 5:1 underlined his performance in the first half but somewhat improved as the season went on. Making fans believe that he can successfully settle in at Dortmund in the latest season.
That’s not happening, however, the 25-year-old has managed just two clean sheets in the Bundesliga in nine games. Even though he has been fairly good in some games and in the Champions League particularly, where he kept two clean sheets in four outings but it’s the Bundesliga where his form cost Dortmund a lot of goals.
Although we can’t overly criticize him for conceding all the goals since Dortmund’s defense has been lacklustre once again this season, but Roman Burki still qualified in our list.
If Thomas Tuchel’s team are to challenge Bayern Munich for the title, Roman Burki surely needs to step up his game and need to manage more shutouts.
