Everton’s biggest victory in the summer transfer window was when the Toffees managed to keep their star attacker Romelu Lukaku at the club despite enormous interest from a host of European giants. It was newly-appointed Everton boss Ronald Koeman who persuaded the Belgian to stay at Goodison Park and play a part in their new ambitious project. However, despite all his efforts, Lukaku will be disappointed to see Everton not doing particularly well this campaign.
The Belgian has already found the beck of the net 7 times in this edition of the Premier League and his stocks still remain pretty high. The Mirror claims that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are looking to test the resilience of the Toffees with a January approach for the Belgian hitman. If this indeed happens, Everton need to keep themselves prepared with possible replacements for their star attacker and here are three players they could go for.
Łukasz Teodorczyk
Everton are reportedly eyeing Poland international Lukasz Teodorczyk, who is currently plying his trade for Belgian giants Anderlecht on loan from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv. The Polish striker, often touted as ‘the next Lewandowski’, is having a brilliant season in Belgian Pro League having scored 15 goals from 20 games in all competitions.
The Polish hitman has been a prolific striker in the past few years and is a full international for Poland. Everton could be his big opportunity to make a name for himself at the bigger stage.
Andre Silva
One of the biggest talents emerging in European football right now is Andre Silva. The Portuguese wonderkid has been brilliant for Porto this season having scored 10 goals from 17 games.
He also earned four senior caps for the Portuguese national team of late and boasts 4 goals from 4 games. The 21-year-old has a bright future ahead of him and Everton should move for him if they have to let Lukaku go.
Mauro Icardi
This might look a bit overambitious but Everton could very well try their luck for the Argentine sensation. Inter are going through a tough spell and Icardi had a public feud with Inter’s Ultras recently. Despite the Nerazzurri struggling so much for good results, Icardi has hardly found it hard to find the beck of the net.
The 23-year-old gifted forward already has 11 goals to his name this season. Everton do have the cash to splash and they are high with ambition. So why not take a chance!
