Are Liverpool in the title race? Yes, they are, believe it or not! Jürgen Klopp has worked his magic at Anfield in such a short amount of time. Just last month, he finished his first year at the Red half of Merseyside and with the kind of football Liverpool have played this campaign, it looks like Klopp can hand the Reds their much-awaited Premier League title in just his first full season at the club.
Regardless of what happens, the football they are playing will make any neutral applaud their effort. Klopp has already won the hearts of football fans but winning hearts and winning trophies are not the same.
If Liverpool can sustain this form till January and remain in the title race, they must consider winter reinforcements in order to go all the way and clinch it. Here are three players they should look for in January.
Lorenzo Insigne
Liverpool have been consistently linked with the Italian winger in recent weeks who is reportedly unhappy at Napoli right now and has stalled on a new contract with the Naples club. With the blistering pace Insigne has in his locker, he can terrify any defence in the world.
Primarily a winger, Insigne can play anywhere across the final third and would be a lot of firepower to Liverpool’s deadly attack line of Firmino, Coutinho, Mane and Lallana. The 25-year-old is proven in Serie A and could be a bigger threat in the Premier League where games are more open.
Geoffrey Kondogbia
Liverpool love to attack and tear apart their opponents, don’t they? However, the Reds should also focus on their defending if they want to win the title. Liverpool need a defensive midfielder badly in order to stop conceding sloppy goals like they have done week in week out this season.
The Reds have been persistently linked with a move for French combative midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia who happens to be a Liverpool fan. The 23-year-old has what it takes to add more steel to the midfield, something that can prove to be quintessential for their title challenge.
Marco Reus
The dream signing of the Liverpool fans since quite a long time could be a reality now. Marco Reus has struggled with injuries of late and the Borussia Dortmund side look quite solid without him anyway. The German superstar has a good rapport with Klopp from their days together at Dortmund and the Liverpool gaffer could turn towards his trusted general in order to turn Liverpool from title challengers to title winners.
A versatile attacker who has a deadly eye for goals as well as a vision to set up his teammates, Reus is a tailor-made player for Klopp’s attacking football.
