The 2016-17 season in the Premier League has been a cracking one so far. Liverpool are leading the table after 11 games wth 26 points while Antonio Conte’s Chelsea is just one point behind them. Manchester City led the table till the tenth gameweek but a draw against Boro just before the international break put them two behind Liverpool. Arsenal, courtesy of their 1-1 draw against Spurs in the North London derby stay on level with points with the Citizens at the fourth place.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Diego Costa are all having sensational seasons for their respective clubs but there are a few players who have massively let the fans down. Let us take a look at three such players who need to pick up their game.
Christian Eriksen
Eriksen has been the heart of the Spurs team since he joined the North London side from Ajax. A key player in their rise to a major force in the Premier League, Spurs are much reliant on their Danish playmaker. The start of the season has been quite troublesome for the Lilywhites with key players like Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld going down early with injuries.
Under such circumstance, it is quite natural to look forward to your best player but Eriksen has let the fans down this season. From 10 Premier League games this term, Eriksen is yet to open his account. The Danish playmaker must pick up his game really soon.
Marko Arnautovic
The Austrian had a scintillating last season for Stoke City that only heaped more expectations from him this campaign. The 27-year-old forward’s lack of consistency has been something he needed to work on but nothing has changed.
The Stoke City winger has scored just once this season from 10 games while Stoke City had a troublesome start to the season. There is still a lot of football to be played this season and Arnautovic must pick up his game.
Alvaro Negredo
Middlesbrough got promoted to the Premier League this season after nine long years and had big aspirations on their comeback. Negredo was brought in from Valencia as the marquee signing and the way the Spaniard has performed so far, he could easily be termed the biggest flop of the transfer window.
The Spanish international has scored just once from 11 Premier League games this season as Aitor Karanka’s side have struggled for goals. The former Manchester City forward needs to buckle up really soon.
