Luis Figo
Figo’s move to Real Madrid from Barcelona is one of the most controversial transfers in the history of football. The move made him sorely hated overnight by the Barcelona fans. He was once a cult hero at Camp Nou having won seven trophies with the Catalan giants but if he was in any doubt as to how he would be received upon his return to the Camp Nou, the answer was provided in the form of a severed pig’s head, which was thrown at him as he prepared to take a corner. All the love turned into anger and hatred with his move.
Michael Laudrup
The Danish playmaker, once the heartthrob of Barcelona, joined the set of players to cross the divide between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Highly successful at both clubs, the Danish legend was not particularly hated by the Real Madrid fans despite his move away. Such was the impact he had at the club.
He went on to inspire Madrid to the La Liga crown in his first campaign, making him the first player to win five Spanish titles in a row. He also shone as Madrid defeated Barca 5-0 that season.
