According to reports, West Bromwich Albion are on the verge of signing Martin Caceres. The central defender is currently a free agent after he left Juventus. The Uruguayan centre-back was signed by the Turin-based club from Sevilla in 2012.
Antonio Conte was reportedly interested in the defender but a move has failed to materialise so far. Chelsea’s nervy defence has already leaked a lot of goals this season and needs to buckle up in order to achieve their targets this season. Conte signed David Luiz from PSG in the summer but with John Terry injured, he might want to strengthen his defence.
West Brom are currently placed ninth in the Premier League table. Caceres is very keen to try his hand in the Premier League and West Brom could be his next destination.
The 29-year old has a Champions League with Barcelona and has also won five consecutive Scudetti during his stint with the Italian club. Inter and AC Milan are also reportedly keeping tabs on the defender.
