Romanian starlet Razvan Marin has been the subject of attention of a host of European clubs in Napoli, Genoa, PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham Hotspur according to Italian daily GianlucaDiMarzio. Napoli has sent scouts present in the stands for the player as he turned up for his current club Viitorul Constanta in the Romanian Liga 1.
Genoa and Tottenham have also been monitoring the situation for some time also while PSV has already been very impressed by the midfielder and are contemplating on making an offer in the winter transfer window.
Born in 1996, the midfielder joined Viitorul in 2013 and has already made 75 appearances for his club chipping in with 7 goals in total. A central midfielder who likes to surge forward and is equally comfortable playing on the wings or through the centre, Marin is very highly regarded in his homeland and is one of those who is learning his trade under the undisputed king of Romanian football himself in George Hagi.
Hagi, who is the manager and the owner of Vitoria, is also someone who rates the player highly and the invaluable inputs from the ‘Maradona Of The Carpathians’ are quite evident in some the stunning set pieces Marin has so far executed to near perfection.
Watching Marin in action is bound to get you excited as he looks every bit of the player capable of creating a buzz on the field with his dynamism. Excellent ball control, high-quality dribbling ability and balance makes him a joy to watch. At 20 years of age, the maturity displayed by the player owing to the technical and tactical aspects of release and retention are remarkable.
Last season, Marin was one of the players who stood out for his club as they achieved their best ever season by finishing 5th in the Liga 1 and qualifying for the Championship play-offs, which allowed them to compete in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League as a result.
This season, Marin has started right from where he left and Viitoria are thus riding high in the Romanian top flight currently, trailing leaders Steaua Bucharest by just three points, as they sit 3rd in the table.
At 20, the player is far from being the finished article and needs to improve on a few things certainly, like his consistency to continue to develop as expected. Having represented his nation at the U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels, he has recently been called up to the senior team and scored a goal in his debut against Armenia in the 5-0 rout.
Marin, who has football in his blood having his father Petre Marin being a former member of the National team, is high on the agenda of a lot of clubs as a result of his potential and talent.
A move to a bigger club and a better league will be the next logical step in his career but he must make sure that wherever he decides to move in the future he can have adequate match practice so that his progress in not halted.
