The Premier League has been graced by a bevy of world class strikers over the years with the physical nature of the league posing a varied challenge to the front men, who have a desire to prove themselves in the physical test of the English top flight. Similar to other seasons, this season too we have a smattering of talented marksmen spread across the teams and while they will fight it out to help their respective teams and score as many goals as possible, we take a sneak peek and fish out the Top 3 strikers from this week’s action.
DIEGO COSTA
Probably the most confrontational striker in the Premier League, the Chelsea man has been their most impactful player since Eden Hazard lost his early career sheen. Diego Costa has hustled and harried the defenders of all his competing teams and has more often than not managed to fulfil his objective, whether by unsettling the opposition or by getting better of him through the undoubtable footballing talent that he possesses. He was strongly linked with Atletico Madrid in the summer but has not let it affect his performances on the pitch. He has been their best player till now and has already won them valuable points this early in the season. He scored once and turned provider against Hull this weekend as he notched up his 6th goal and 2nd assist of the season, again underlining his value to the Blues.
TROY DEENEY
Watford were involved in arguably the most entertaining match of the season, as they fought out a 2-2 thriller against the Cherries. The Hornets twice fought back to regain parity after going behind twice and much of it was to the credit of the ever reliable Troy Deeney.
He was full of running and was his usual tireless self. Amrabat, who was also impressive on the day took the ball around Charlie Daniels and passed it to Deeney, for the Englishman to tuck the ball in. He has 3 goals for the season and is now 1 goal away from the coveted landmark of 100 goals for Watford.
ROMELU LUKAKU
In a week where most of the heavy-hitters up top failed to come up with the goods, Romelu Lukaku did not disappoint the Merseyside spectators as he netted in an end-to-end 1-1 draw with Crystal palace. Lukaku was slow to start the season with an injury and incessant talks regarding his future enveloping him. But he has slowly got into a groove and now stands at 5 goals scored from 6 matches. His beautifully taken free-kick helped fetch one valuable point for Ronald Koeman as they navigated a potential banana skin fixture with a draw.
