Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Willian is set to miss the Leicester City clash following the death of his mother. The midfielder posted a poem on his Instagram account as a tribute to his mother. Willian didn’t return from his international duty. The midfielder scored a goal for Brazil on last Tuesday. He earlier dedicated his goal against Hull City to his ailing mother.
His mother had been suffering from cancer for a prolonged period. She underwent several chemotherapy sessions and five operations. Willian was on his way to London when he got the news. Chelsea granted him a leave to attend his mother’s funeral to be held in Sao Paulo.
Chelsea wrote on their official website, ‘All of us at Chelsea Football Club are sending our love and deepest condolences to Willian and his family after the passing of his mother.’ ‘We are thinking of you Willian.’
Chelsea are set to face Leicester City on Saturday.
