Liverpool have played exactly like one would expect them to play under Jürgen Klopp. The passionate former Borussia Dortmund manager is in his first full season in charge of the Reds and got his opportunity to give the team a makeover in which he believed. But Klopp did not go for any drastic change with Sadio Mane being the only big money signing made by him. With an odd tweak here and there in defence, he believes Liverpool are all set to challenge for their targets this season.
Klopp’s gegenpressing and high-intensity approach requires players who are ready to commit themselves to the team’s cause wholeheartedly and this is something Klopp has been trying to instil throughout the squad. He already has an attacking quartet in the form of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Lallana who rely on their flair and skills to bamboozle the opposition into submission while the likes of Wijnaldum, Henderson and Can shore up the midfield and look to win possession back for their team.
The 49-year old has already overseen morale-boosting wins over Arsenal and Chelsea which sees them in the 4th position after collecting 16 points from 7 games. Liverpool’s tag of the Robin Hood of the Premier League might fit well into a literary classic but they will be looking to shed the tag over the course of the season. The need to be ruthless is of paramount importance with the quality on show in the division.
IDEAL T4O’s LIVERPOOL LINE-UP WHEN FULLY FIT (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
Loris Karius has been given a run as the No.1 in the team and will look to attain consistency which Mignolet sorely lacks. Nathaniel Clyne is one of the better full backs in the league and his position as the right-back is undisputed currently. There are question marks over the best defensive pair at their disposal but in the present scenario, it seems Lovren and Matip are the preferred choices. Moreno’s nightmare run of games has allowed Mr. Dependable James Milner to step up at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Wijnaldum has been decent in the run of games in midfield although he has been played slightly out of position. But he will likely make way for Emre Can with the German nearing full fitness. The midfield trio is likely to be Lallana, Can and Henderson.
ATTACK
Daniel Sturridge has been poor in the opportunities he has got and as of now Coutinho, Firmino and Sadio Mane are the undisputed options up top. Their pace aligned with the understanding and skill has been integral to Liverpool’s swashbuckling form till now.
