Jose Mourinho is used to giving the Chelsea fans memorable wins at Stamford Bridge and that did not change on Super Sunday. The ‘Special One’ returned to the West London club for the first time since being axed by the Blues in December last year and came back with sheer humiliation. Mourinho’s Manchester United were humbled by a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.
Chelsea got 1-0 lead very early in the game. Pedro Rodriguez capitalised on a sluggish Manchester United defending to roll in the first goal on the brink of just 30 seconds. There seemed no way back for the Red Devils after such a horrific start as Conte’s boys pulled the strings on a regular basis. Chelsea doubled their lead with Gary Cahill smashing into the net after United defence allowed Eden Hazard’s corner to bounce in their penalty box.
Manchester United never looked like a side that could inspire a comeback, something they used to be famous for under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Chelsea looked even better in the second half and Eden Hazard scored the third with an excellent strike from 15 yards out. It was a collector’s item when N’Golo Kante scored the fourth one, skipping past United defence.
It was an emotional afternoon for the Chelsea fans and Jose Mourinho and it was evident that there has been no love lost for the Portuguese manager from the fans. Hundreds gathered to greet Mourinho as he walked off the United team bus, while he received a warm embrace from former skipper John Terry before kick-off. However, Jose has no time to get into emotions now as he has a serious job in his hands which is to make his team recover from the rout.
Twitter reacted on the game quite expectedly and it was Jose Mourinho who was the person of interest. Some fans even called him ‘Special Once’. Meanwhile, Paul Pogba was once again trolled for his failure to make an impact after his club record transfer as the French superstar was largely invisible during the game. Here are some best tweets on the game-
