Liverpool will be a confident bunch when they welcome Manchester United to Anfield in what will be the biggest match of the game week. It will be Part Two of this week’s Merseyside vs Manchester show after Everton face Manchester City on Saturday.
It will bring two expressive and brilliant managers face to face in Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho on a Monday night and this will be the first time Mourinho faces Klopp whilst being the United manager. Recent form favours the Red Devils who have won both their matches last season in the Premier League while Liverpool only have 4 victories across 18 matches in all competitions.
But at Anfield, expectedly, Liverpool have the upper hand as they have won 42 games, drawn 19 and lost 25 games against their fierce rivals.
Klopp will know the importance of a good performance in this match as a positive result will go a long way in reaffirming the belief in his players who will then feel that the team can actually go on to achieve something this season. So far, Klopp’s Liverpool has been remorseless against big teams having scored 4 against Arsenal and defeated Chelsea 2-1.
The match on Monday is expected to be the toughest for the Reds till now and given the injury concerns in the squad, they have to perform to their maximum capacity if they are to topple slightly nervy United.
T4O’s PREDICTED LIVERPOOL LINE-UP VS MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
Loris Karius has firmly edged out Simon Mignolet and is the No.1 between the sticks now. Nathaniel Clyne is facing a race against time to be fit but is expected to eventually win the race and line up at right-back. Lovren is a slight doubt but he is also in line to be fit and in that scenario will partner Joel Matip in the centre of the defence. James Milner will, as usual, resume his duties as the left-back, not makeshift anymore by the looks of it.
MIDFIELD
Emre Can is almost certain to start the game and in the event that Wijnaldum is unable to regain his fitness, Can will step in place of him. Henderson will move wide with Lallana on the other side. Lucas is also an option if the England international is unable to get fit for the match.
ATTACK
The front three is more or less settled with Coutinho, Firmino and Sadio Mane nailed on for the 3 spots which will again resign Daniel Sturridge to bench warming duties.
