Everton suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Burnley at Turf Moore last week. The game seemed to be heading for a draw when right at the end Scott Arfield scored the winner to give his team all three points. Everton could have been even higher in the Premier League table if not for the two unexpected losses they have encountered so far against Bournemouth and Burnley.
However, Ronald Koeman’s men do lie in the 6th place of the Premier League table and against a West Ham side which seems to be slowly getting back their rhythm; it would be a fascinating contest. Let’s take a look at how the Toffees can line up for the game.
Goalkeeper
Martin Stekelenburg is likely to be under the bars for the game guarding the goal as the Dutchman would hope to keep a clean sheet.
Right Back
Seamus Coleman should be the right back, the fullback is an important player for his side and would be needed to provide the width from the right-hand side to give Everton the balance.
Central Defender
The experienced Phil Jagielka will be occupying one of the two spots at the heart of the home side’s defense when the Hammers visit Goodison Park.
Central Defender
New signing Ashley Williams is likely to partner Jagielka in the central defense and the former Swansea man would hope to keep things as tight as possible at the back.
Left Back
Leighton Baines’s hamstring injury looks to be a bit worse than feared and Bryan Oviedo will be getting his chance to make a mark for the second week running in the league as a result.
