Both Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers had underwhelming starts to their seasons this time around. We had expected the Whites to do much better this campaign with a manager like Garry Monk on board while Wolves, despite spending a fortune this summer to bring in quality players, have struggled to get results.
Wolves are in 16th place and are in a terrible form as they are winless in their past 4 matches and have lost three of those. They are only four points safe of the relegation zone.
Leeds’ situation isn’t any better either. The Whites are sitting just one point and two places above their opponents from Saturday. It would be unfair to say that Garry Monk has not managed to improve his side at all. Leeds have performed well this season but in patches. They still need to find consistency in their game to fulfil their dream of getting back to the Premier League.
Here is the predicted Leeds United lineup against Wolves.
Defence
Veteran stopper Robert Green will line up between the sticks for the Whites. We expect Monk to stick to the centre-back pairing of Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson who have done really well this season.
Liam Cooper will sit out once again and wait for his chance. Luke Ayling is likely to start in the right-back position. Charlie Taylor will keep his place in the left-back position.
Leeds have looked solid in defence this season compared to the last couple of seasons and the back four needs a good game against Wolves who have plenty of firepower up front.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips and Eunan O’Kane are likely to start as the two central midfielders. Youngster Kalvin Phillips is having his best spell as a first-team player at Elland Road right now and is doing well to fill in the void of Liam Bridcutt who remains out with an injury. The 20-year-old will get an extended run in the starting XI alongside experienced Eunan O’Kane who has cemented a first-team place for himself in the middle of the park since his switch from Bournemouth this summer. Experienced Spaniard Pablo Hernandez will start as the number ten.
Attack
Youngster Hadi Sacko will keep his place on the right flank. With Stuart Dallas still out with an injury, Kemar Roofe is likely to start on the left. Chris wood has finally been able to discover his form this season up front and has already bagged six goals this season. The Kiwi international will keep his place up front as the number nine.
