After their 4-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend, Arsenal will be visiting Ludogorets for their midweek Champions League clash. Barring their Premier League draw against Middlesbrough, Arsenal have largely shown a complete performance and with the comeback of Olivier Giroud in the squad, Arsenal are really looking at multiple tactical changes in the attacking third if one doesn’t work.
In their last meeting, Arsenal had thrashed Ludogorets 6-0 with Mesut Ozil scoring a hat-trick at the Emirates stadium.
Arsenal will look to produce a similar performance this midweek again and with Aaron Ramsey returning, the Gunners look to cement a top place in their Champions League group stage.
Defence
Arsenal’s Champions League designated goalkeeper David Ospina will take his position at the bars. He has been absolutely brilliant in the position keeping 2 clean sheets in the competition.
Although few nervy moments from Shkodran Mustafi have been a concern for Arsenal in the last few matches, Wenger has faith in the young German who will surely improve with more game time.
With Gabriel and Rob Holding showing matured performance last midweek in their League Cup, Wenger has more options in the defensive role.
Nacho Monreal was an uncertainty in the weekend match and if he fails to recover, Kieran Gibbs will continue to replace the Spaniard in the left back position.
Hector Bellerin is the first choice but considering Arsenal face a huge game against Tottenham in the Sunday North London derby, Wenger might consider resting him. Carl Jenkinson has shown positive play on the right defensive flank and might get a chance.
