Real Madrid defender Pepe has expressed his interest to finish his career with the Los Blancos. He has told Madrid that he is very keen to extend his contract which is due to expire at the end of the season. The Portuguese defender who recently won the EURO 2016 with Portugal, played the full match against Legia Warsaw which they won 5-1.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the 33-year-old has been earlier linked with Chelsea. Pepe’s experience would be a boost to the Antonio Conte who has been in the search of a top quality defender. He was thwarted in the transfer market this past summer but could be active once again in the winter.
Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer a new one-year deal but the defender wants to sign a two-year contract.
“I am calm. I want to help Madrid, the club I love.
“I hope the club call me first to resolve this [contract] situation. I am calm, people in the club know that this is my home. I have already said that I expect to be with Madrid until the last second.
“My goal is to retire here.” He added.
