Memphis Depay who was once compared to Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly very unhappy with his current role at Manchester United. The Dutch winger was signed from PSV Eindhoven last year.
Depay has been struggling to find his form for The Red Devils. Jose Mourinho has so far preferred Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial over him. The 22-year-old has failed to justify his price tag and also had a very difficult first season under former boss Louis van Gaal.
Depay admitted that he wants more game time, “I am not happy just because I play for Manchester United. This is my dream club, but I still want to play.”
“Things are going well on the training pitch. I am fresh and fit. Mourinho is a great coach. He has told me he believes in me, both in person, but also publicly.”
“I would rather not talk about last season. That is something of the past. I should have performed better. Being a fringe player is not the role I want,” he added.
Depay has been selected in the Netherlands national team for the World Cup Qualifiers against Belarus and France.
