It has been an underwhelming start for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. After 10 game weeks, the Red Devils find themselves 8th in the table. Not much has changed at Old Trafford with Louis van Gaal departing and his disciple Jose Mourinho taking charge. In fact, the former gaffer who was often criticised by the fans hardly had such an embarrassing result like a 4-0 loss to rivals Chelsea. Has the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ lost his charm? Only time will tell.
Manchester United have struggled for goals this season. While the current top-four Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs have scored close to 20 or more goals already from their games, the Red Devils have just managed to score 13 and the key reason behind that is Zlatan Ibrahimović not being able to fire.
Manchester United definitely need more firepower in their attack in order to contend for the title in the future and Jose Mourinho needs to address this issue.
The Daily Mail claims that the Red Devils are interested in French young forward Moussa Dembele who is right now making the headlines week in week out in Scotland with Celtic.
The report claims that a Manchester United scout was present at Global Energy Stadium in the midweek to watch the youngster in action. The Red Devils were probably disappointed to see the young sensation starting from the bench in the game but he still managed to show what he is capable of doing from the bench scoring a late goal for the Hoops.
Dembele moved to Celtic this summer only on a free transfer from Championship club Fulham and has made such a strong mark at the Paradise that he is being preferred up front ahead of Leigh Griffiths who scored 40 goals in all competitions last season for Celtic.
15 goals already under his belt from 21 games in all competitions- speaks volumes about the quality of the Frenchman. But, Manchester United should forget about this signing as of now.
Dembele, from his time at Fulham, was a recognised young player and it was a bit surprising to see him moving to Celtic despite a number of top Premier League clubs looking for his signature. From the player’s point of view, his move to Celtic made a lot of sense. At Celtic, he knew that he could grow as much as he can as an individual getting more first-team action.
Just 20 years of age, the French under-21 international has a bright future ahead of him. A youth graduate from PSG, Dembele made his move to Fulham in 2013 knowing that he would get more first-team football at Craven Cottage. At Fulham, Dembele slowly but surely started making an impact which linked him to major Premier League clubs but he resisted the temptation and rather went to Celtic which was a shrewd decision from him.
Manchester United have two gifted young strikers in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. But, are they growing as much as they should have? Both are being played out wide by Mourinho while Ibrahimovic is playing as a number nine even though he is struggling. It makes no sense at all for Dembele to move to Old Trafford now and looking at how smart the youngster has been regarding his career, he won’t be and can’t be tempted. Mourinho needs to forget about this move.
