Jose Mourinho has accused Chelsea manager Antonio Conte for ‘humiliating’ him during Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat against Chelsea. United suffered their worst defeats at the hand of Chelsea in the last 17 years.
Pedro started the proceedings in the 1st minute of the game as he got past United custodian to give an early lead to the home side. Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kanté completed the rout as the Blues registered their sixth win in this season.
Mourinho was seen telling something to Conte after the game was over. The Portuguese reportedly said to the Italian, “You don’t celebrate like that at 4-0, you can do it at 1-0, otherwise it’s humiliating for us.”
Conte is known for celebrating with his heart out. He did this similar kind of celebration when he was the coach of Italy. The Azzurri defeated the mighty Spain 2-0 in the pre-quarters of EURO 2016.
Conte later admitted that he had no intention of humiliating the Portuguese. Explaining his celebration the Italian said, “I was a football player, so I know how to behave on the pitch. I have great respect for everyone.”
“There were United fans who kept singing, while ours were in silence after a great performance from my team. I wanted to call the crowd to applaud the players, which seems normal enough to me.”
He went on to add, “If you want to cut the emotions, we can stay at home and I will change jobs. I did something absolutely normal. I didn’t do anything to humiliate Mourinho.”
