Manchester United star striker Wayne Rooney is confident that record signing Paul Pogba will get back to his best in this ongoing season. The £89m midfielder has been struggling to get accustomed to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho has tried the 23-year-old in different positions but still hasn’t found his suitable place. His only goal came against Leicester City. The French midfielder left United in 2012 to Join Juventus. He spent four glorious years at Turin and has become one of the best midfielders.
Rooney who started from the bench against Liverpool said, “Paul is a fantastic player, I think he is working hard and he is doing well, it is a different league to what he’s been used to.”
Rooney is also finding it hard to end goal drought. Gareth Southgate left out the 30-year-old from his starting lineup in England’s recent World Cup Qualifiers. The forward thinks that Pogba needs time to gel with the team, “He didn’t really play last time when he was here so this is all new. He is a fantastic player and he will shine for us this season there is no doubt.”
