Pep Guardiola has explained why he left Sergio Aguero from the starting lineup against Barcelon for the Champions League clash. Barcelona blanked Manchester City 4-0 with Messi scoring a hat trick. Neymar scored the other goal for The Catalans.
Guardiola started with Nolito and Sterling on both the wings with Kevin De Bruyne playing upfront. Guardiola’s decision of dropping Aguero seemed to backfire and has been criticised by many. The Argentine has scored 11 goals in nine matches for City this season.
The gaffer’s decision of playing Iheanacho over the striker in the last game has already raised few eyebrows .Kevin De Bruyne and Aguero both missed a penalty in that match as they were held 1-1 against Everton.
But Guardiola has defended his tactics to leave out the striker who is their top scorer till now in this season, “He didn’t warm up, but it was ok. I wanted one more midfield player in that position and that was the reason why (he didn’t play).
“I spoke with him and he was good. The decision was made this afternoon,” He signed off.
