Manchester United and Manchester City are in a race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos. Kroos joined Madrid from Bayern Munich for £24 m in 2014.
Kroos was heavily linked with Manchester United earlier but the Red Devils will have to compete with Pep Guardiola now if they want to bring the German midfielder to the Premier League. United recently signed Paul Pogba and need a suitable midfielder alongside him who can let Pogba express himself.
Kroos could be the ideal player in this regard. Ex-United midfielder Paul Scholes admitted that the Red Devils should go for the midfielder.
Both the Manchester clubs spent heavily in the transfer market with United alone spending almost £150m. Kroos has so far played 9 games for the La Liga giants and has found the net once. With Casemiro injured, Carlo Ancelotti has been using him as a defensive midfielder. But Real Madrid are reportedly reluctant to let go of one of their prized assets and are considering an option to renew his contract till 2020.
