After Manchester United, Liverpool will be heading into another tricky fixture this Saturday, when they host West Bromwich Albion at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp won’t be expecting an easy win given Albion’s defensive record in the Premier league.
Albion has the fifth best defensive record in the league and the last 3 meetings between the teams have been draws. Klopp would look to break the voodoo this time especially with his team in a great goal scoring form.
It should also be considered that Liverpool are unbeaten in 6 Premier League games against Baggies. Daniel Sturridge has scored in both of his appearances against the West Brom till now. West Brom have twice won at Anfield in the Premier League – in April 2012 and February 2013.
Team News
Liverpool- One of the biggest boosts for Liverpool is that Adam Lallana is fit to start the game and will definitely improve the urgency and sharpness that was missing from Liverpool’s display against United. Wijnaldum is doubtful with a slight hip injury, but is expected to shake it off before the game as he has reportedly returned to training.
Joseph Gomez is unfit for the game and so is Sheyi Ojo, who are both out for unknown period.
West Bromwich Albion- With no players doubtful for the game, Albion are among the few teams in the Premier league with a low injury list.
Berahino is the only player still out with injury and is expected to return next week. Apart from that, Bromwich will miss the service of experienced Jonny Evans as he is suspended after he was red carded.
Predicted team line up
Liverpool (4-3-3)- Karius; CLyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner; Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Firmino, Coutinho
West Bromwich Albion (4-1-4-1)- Foster; Nyom, Olson, McAuley, Dawson; Yacob; McClean, Chadli, Fletcher, Phllips; Rondon
Key Players
Liverpool- Considering Sturridge’s record against Albion in the past, Klopp will look to start with him hoping he finds his scoring boots. Apart from that all eyes will be on Adam Lallana as he returns to the team. Although Klopp is not expected to start with him, he could be the key to unlock Wes Brom’s astute defence. Coutinho was the only person other than Can who came close to scoring against United. He has 3 goals and 2 assists in 6 appearances and will look to keep his score sheet ticking.
West Bromwich- Nacer Chadli has been the most instrumental player for the Baggies. The attacking central midfielder has already scored 4 goals and 2 assists in just 5 appearances. Tony Pulis has considered the Belgian the key to his attack. Forward Salomon Rondon has also been in fierce form with 3 goals and 1 assist in 7 appearances.
