Liverpool are reportedly interested in Hoffenheim defender Fabian Schär. The Reds sent scouts to watch the Swiss defender playing against Andorra and Hungary.
Liverpool have already conceded 10 goals in the season. Although Jürgen Klopp had signed Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip in the last transfer window, they need to tighten up the defence as opponents often exposed the vulnerability of Liverpool defence. The Reds are currently on a juggernaut winning their last five matches in all competitions.
The 24-year old Swiss joined the joined the German side from FC Basel last year. Klopp was trying to entice him when he was at Basel but failed.
Barcelona sporting director Roberto Fernandez was reportedly also present during Switzerland’s 2-1 win over Andorra. Schär scored the opener for Switzerland. The defender has earlier been linked with The Catalans.
He has a contract till 2019 and Liverpool will face stiff competition from Inter Milan who are also planning to sign him.
