Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has warned his players ahead of the much important match against Manchester United. Klopp is worried about his team’s defensive tactics against the taller players of United.
United have some tall players with the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marouane Fellaini. Fellaini was a regular in Louis Van Gaal’s side as the Dutchman used to deploy him in the midfield to thwart the pressing and go direct thanks to the Belgian’s aerial prowess. Klopp said that he is aware that United will try to use the physicality of their players and he has told his player to concede minimum free kicks and corners.
Klopp sarcastically told the reporters, “We have already started to stretch our players!”
“Seriously, though, I would imagine that if United start putting their tall players in the box they will be fighting for the result and for that to happen it must mean that something we did must have worked pretty well.” He added.
The German who recently was adjudged the Coach of the month went on to add, “We know about United’s physical strength and we cannot do anything to change it, all we can do is try to avoid situations where they can use it.
Liverpool have rejuvenated themselves under Klopp and is right now on a four-match winning streak in the Premier League. New signing Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho has been impressive as they have scored an astonishing 18 goals so far.
United have to rely a lot on Zlatan who has scored four goals in seven games and Marcus Rashford who has provided the spark up front for the Red Devils.
