Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has praised manager Jürgen Klopp for making Liverpool into a very competitive side in the Premier League.
Alonso played from 2004 to 2009 for the Reds before making a switch to Real Madrid. During his stint, he won a number of coveted trophies including the FA Cup and Champions League. He was one of the main architects of Liverpool’s famous Champions League triumph over AC Milan in Istanbul in 2005.
Jürgen Klopp was appointed as the manager last season and in his debut season, he led Liverpool to two finals, Europa League and League Cup. Liverpool have also made an excellent start to the season having won eight from the last ten matches they have played.
The attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho have made Liverpool into one of the best-attacking units of the Premier League who have scored twenty goals.
Alonso hailed Klopp, “It was a big boost for the city and the club to have such a prestigious manager wanting to manage Liverpool
“He has embraced the culture of Liverpool, the tradition but also the hunger to deliver and to do something important.
“They are so, so enjoyable to watch and they are [involved] in great games. They have beaten Arsenal in London and Chelsea in London as well,” he added.
