David Alaba could be reunited with his ex-boss Pep Guardiola. Manchester City are reportedly trying to bring the Austrian defender to England.
Alaba is one of those players who can ply his trade in the defence as well as the midfield and City had preliminary talks with the 24 year old’s representative and are ready to meet his price tag of £40m but a deal in January is unlikely to happen as the player has signed a new five year contract worth £75,000 a week earlier this year. City are now trying to sign him in the upcoming season and could offer him a higher wage, almost double to his current salary.
The youngster is regarded as one of the best left backs and has established himself in the Bayern Munich starting lineup. Guardiola had spent almost £150m in the last transfer market but still wants to revamp his defence. Guardiola needs to bolster his side back section as Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Aleksandar Kolarov are all past their prime.
