Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has always expressed his love for Real Madrid in the past. Aubameyang recently told Onze Mondial magazine, “I was asked in interview, ‘What is the club of your dreams?’ I replied: ‘Real Madrid is the club of my heart and I made a promise to my grandfather to play there one day, I hope it will happen. So it’s just a target, I still have time. If they want me, they will come.’”
The comments are hugely significant and it seems at the moment that Zinedine Zidane might be tempted to think about a possible move for the striker to mix things up a bit in the attack.
The Gabon international has really rose to the limelight after his 39 goals last season for Borussia Dortmund. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) crowned him the African Footballer of the Year for 2015 ahead of the Toure brothers. The striker has improved his gameplay each passing year and has transformed into a lethal goal scorer of world football at the moment.
In the current season, the forward has already struck five times in his 5 games in the Bundesliga with another 2 in two in the Champions League group stage.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, started the season brightly but has experienced a bit of a slump with 4 consecutive draws in their last four games. With Cristiano Ronaldo still not back to his best after a return from the injury and Benzema looking very rusty, the Los Blancos have failed to impact games the way they do in the attack against their oppositions this season.
Gareth Bale has looked impressive though and the Welshman has had to shoulder more and more responsibility of trying to break the opposition’s defence. However, Bale hasn’t been able to inspire the attack as the club have managed to draw a lot of games which proves their lack of conviction in front of goal. That’s where Aubameyang comes in.
This is where the Dortmund man can come in handy. Aubameyang is one of the fastest players in world football and has excellent off the ball movement which creates plenty of space for his compatriots. In the last few years, the Gabon international has also improved his finishing manifold which has allowed him to become much more prolific in front of the opposition goal.
Last season was a very good example of that and this season, Aubameyang has started right from where he left off. With the BBC not performing Real Madrid would be wise to add Aubameyang in their squad to bring freshness in their attack.
A player of his quality would not be cheap but the transfer fee has never mattered to the Los Blancos and with Manchester City lurking, it would be better if the Spanish club decides to act fast to provide the player a chance to complete his dream move and fulfil the promise he made to his grandfather.
