Everton Vs West Ham United: Team News, Predicted Lineups, Key Players And Odds

Ronald Koeman replacing Roberto Martinez at Everton this summer has managed to rectify the Toffees’ glaring defensive problems but they have started faltering in the final third as the season has gained pace. Everton had a bright start to the Koeman era but things are looking disappointing for the Merseyside Blues in recent weeks. They are five games without a win and will take on West Ham United on Sunday who have three games in a row for the first time this season.

West Ham upset their London rivals Chelsea in the fourth round of the League Cup this midweek to make it three wins in a row. They won both of their last two Premier League games with 1-0 margins and drew the previous game that ended 1-1 against Middlesbrough.

West Ham fans will be optimistic ahead of the game as they look impressive for the first time this season while the early confidence that Everton showed in their game is gone now.

Team news

Everton

Everton duo Leighton Baines and James McCarthy will both miss this weekend with hamstring injuries. Matthew Pennington, Tyias Browning, Darren Gibson and Muhamed Besic remain out while Enner Valencia is ineligible against his parent club.

West Ham United

Hammers’ club-record signing Andre Ayew could start against Everton having made his first appearance since 15 August on Wednesday against Chelsea. West Ham’s injury list remains long with Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, Sam Byram, Gokhan Tore and Arthur Masuaku all being on the treatment table. Alvaro Arbeloa is doubtful for the game.

Key players

Everton- Romelu Lukaku

West Ham had struggled defensively initially this season. However, switching to three at the back has improved their defending to some extent. Lukaku is one of the very best forwards in the League and West Ham might struggle to keep him silent. With six goals already scored this season and two created, the big Belgian is in a stunning form and can tear apart West Ham’s defence.

West Ham United- Dimitri Payet

Payet has been brilliant this season despite West Ham struggling. His dribbling, passes, free kicks- everything is top notch. With one goal and four assists to his name this season, West Ham are heavily reliant on the French maestro and Everton must keep him silent in order to get something from this game.
