Crystal Palace succumbed to a defeat at the King Power in a game which provided plenty of excitement and chances for the visitors. The Eagles were left frustrated as they were unable to take their chances which the hosts did and despite having 7 shots on target and 23 in total, Alan Pardew’s men left Leicester empty handed. Let’s see how the players fared in the tie on a scale of 1 to 10.
Mandanda (8/10)
Brilliant with his distribution and produced a stunning save at the very end to deny Mahrez a goal
Ward (7/10)
Was troubled by Ahmed Musa but made some very important interceptions at the back while giving some nice crosses upfront as well
Tomkins (6.5/10)
Won his headers inside the box and made the clearances as well. Created the turnovers whenever he tried to pass a bit further up-field.
Delaney (6/10)
Was dominated in the air by Slimani but managed to get his interceptions and clearances right
Kelly (6.5/10)
Disappointing with his forward passing but proved to be a real handful against Mahrez making a number of crucial interceptions.
Cabaye (7.5/10)
Passed the ball very well in the middle but could only win 3 out of his 9 tackles which put his team in a spot of bother. Scored late in the game but should also have scored another when he shot straight to Schmeichel from 6 yards.
McArthur (6/10)
Passed the ball well and created a good opportunity to score also but was not taken.
Ledley (7.5/10)
A good all round performance from the Palace man who passed the ball really well and was also very dominant in the defensive phase with his tackles and interceptions.
Townsend (5/10)
Disappointing from the winger even though he created 3 chances. Was really poor with his execution of passes and also made some bad decisions. Crossing needed to be a lot better from the opportunities he got
Zaha (8.5/10)
Was by far the best player on the pitch for his team with his show of skills and pace. Completed 8 of his 9 attempted take ons and created no less than 5 chances for his teammates some of which needed to be converted into goals. Was the one who provided the assist for the goal scored by Cabaye.
Benteke(7/10)
Battled hard at the top and should have scored more than one goal with his effort getting thumped into the bar and the other being cleared off the line. Had 5 shots on goal.
Subs
Lee (5/10)
Came on in the 72nd minute and had a crack on goal in the 89th minute which was comfortably saved.
Campbell (N/A)
Fryers (6/10)
Created a good chance in the 90th minute since coming on for Kelly in the 77th minute and also made a good block inside his own penalty area.
