Young Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke is all set to sign a new contract with the club. The forward has been demanding an exorbitant hike in the tune of £50,000-a-week but has backed out and will soon sign on the dotted line.
The 19-year-old spent the last season on loan at Vitesse scoring seven goals in 27 appearances. The teenager who earns £7,000 a week will get a hefty pay rise in the new contract. He was on the bench when Chelsea defeated Leicester City 3-0 but he hasn’t featured for The Blues in this season and reportedly rejected an offer to move out on loan.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made it clear that the forward has to try hard if he wants first team football, “People who know me will know I don’t gift a place to anyone. Only those who deserve to play will play for me.
“If [the youngsters] are ready I will put them in. In the future they can play from the start. Age is not important. I made my first appearance in Serie A at only 16.”
Chelsea are scheduled to face Manchester United on Sunday.
