Chelsea winger Pedro has revealed that he held talks with Barcelona over a possible transfer. Pedro arrived from Barcelona for £21 million in the last season.
He managed 24 starts last season in the Premier League scoring seven goals. But a move from a title challenging club to one who were in such a horrendous run of form will give anyone doubts. Chelsea finished in a dismal 10th position. He recently marked his 50th appearance for the Blues by scoring within the first minute against Manchester United.
The Spaniard revealed he was frustrated by lack of playing time and even considered a transfer to the Catalans as he spoke to the Barcelona president, “I spoke to [Barcelona president Josep Maria] Bartomeu and it looked as though I’d return to Barcelona last summer.
“But I think the talks were given more importance than they really had. It is difficult to return, even with everything you remember from your old club.”
Pedro started the last two games against United and Leicester city and is looking sharper than previous under new manager Antonio Conte. The 29-year old World Cup winner went on to add, “If you asked me if I’d like to go back, my answer is obvious, because it is a great club where I have great teammates and a fan base that appreciates me.
“I’ve always said I’d like to retire at Barcelona but it is very difficult, almost impossible at this point.”
