Chelsea set to renew their interest in AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli.
Chelsea have been in the search of a defender after Antonio Conte failed to land any of his top targets last summer. They have signed David Luiz and Marcos Alonso on the deadline day but the Italian wants to sign a defender who would be able to fit in his preferred 3-5-2 formation.
Conte left out Romagnoli from the Italy squad in EURO 2016 as he preferred the Juventus back three of Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli, but now he wants this Italian in his Chelase squad.
The 21 year old is very highly rated and recently made his national debut against Spain. Chelsea had been chasing the defender prior to Conte’s arrival but couldn’t attract him. Romagnoli has played 33 times last season and has started in six matches in the ongoing season.
But a player os his age and quality would not come cheap and Chelsea need to shell out at least £50m if they want the services of the AC Milan defender.
