Marco Verratti is easily one of the most elegant midfielders in the world right now and quite deservedly, he always had a long list of suitors for him. Still only 23, the magical midfielder will only grow better with time and can mark his name among the very best in the world. However, even the best of players sometimes find it hard to impress a new manager and that’s what happened with Verratti at Paris Saint-Germain this campaign.
TalkSPORT claims that Verratti has lately gone out of favour at Parc des Princes after finding life hard under new boss Unai Emery. This has only added further fuel to the fire as talkSPORT claims that Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus and Inter Milan are all interested in his signature. However, the report also claims that Italian giants Inter Milan are ready to splash £58.5m on the Italian star.
Inter Milan are right now looking frontrunners for the signature of the 23-year-old but that could change in the coming months. Chelsea should try everything in their power and do it immediately in order to bag the signature of one of the biggest talents in the world.
Under their new manager Antonio Conte, Chelsea are looking like a completely different team when compared to the last season. Despite their loss to Liverpool and humiliation against rivals Arsenal, Conte’s side have shown great character to bounce back.
They look like a serious title challenger now and are sitting just one point behind the top three Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. However, it is as clear as daylight that the Blues need more quality in the team and Verratti can provide them with that.
If you look at the Juventus side and the Italian national team under Antonio Conte, it will be crystal clear why Chelsea would do well with Verratti in the side. Both Juventus and Italy had Andrea Pirlo at the base of a three-man midfield who used to orchestrate the game. Chelsea miss a similar player and there are very few better than Verratti who is capable of doing justice to that role.
In many ways, Marco Verratti is a similar player to Andrea Pirlo. Elegant, classy, a brilliant passer be it long or short and boasting a brilliant technique, the Italian has everything you want from a regista. On top of that, Verratti has an excellent ability to make his way passed a strong resolute defence with his dribbling ability and he is also a player who works very hard for the team.
Conte tried and failed to find the controller of the game in Cesc Fabregas which he needs to help Chelsea restore their pride in English football and build on that. Verratti is someone he knows very well from his days as the manager of the Italian national team and a reunion can be the first step towards a long-term success story of Chelsea under Conte.
£58.5m is the fee Inter Milan are ready to pay for Verratti and Chelsea might need to pay a similar sum if not more to land the star midfielder but that’s how the market is nowadays.
Verratti has achieved a number of silverwares at PSG over the years and boasts an enormous experience despite being just 23. He will be a long-term project at Stamford Bridge and there is absolutely no reason why Chelsea should hesitate paying a big sum to land him.
