Chelsea are eying Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles as they are trying to boost their defence. The Blues have been linked with a number of players with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Leonardo Bonucci and Michael Keane. Chelsea kept a clean sheet in their last four Premier League matches but Conte wants to reshape his defence as John Terry is on the verge of retirement.
Since the Italian started to play in a 3-4-3 formation Chelsea’s form have been going upwards but the need to strengthen is still imperative.
Newcastle United are right now topping the Championship table. Lascelles has appeared in 17 matches in all competitions for The Magpies and has scored a goal as well. The 22-year old joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in 2014 and has been handed the captain’s armband this year. Chelsea might make a bid of £18 m to entice the defender to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also scouting Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Burnley’s Michael Keane as they are very eager to boost the number of homegrown players.
