Open up Gladbach from the flanks
Andre Schubert’s Borussia Monchengladbach play a 3-5-2 formation with three at the back and two wing-backs who offer the team a lot both defensive and attacking-wise. However, a 3-5-2 formation is often vulnerable from the flanks as the wing-backs tend to burst forward more than normal full-backs.
Celtic have quick and direct wide players in the likes of Sinclair and Forrest who can be a menace to the Gladbach defence. Rodgers needs to use the width of the pitch in his side’s favour.
Use Griffiths alongside Dembele
Celtic have found the right formula to success in a 4-2-3-1 formation and youngster Moussa Dembele has done really well to replace Leigh Griffiths as the first-choice up front. Right now, there is no room for Griffiths in the side but in this crucial game, Rodgers should take a chance and field both strikers against Gladbach.
This weekend’s stellar performer Tom Rogic might have to make way for the Scot or Griffiths might have to play wide right but this is a chance Rodgers has to take.
