Ousmane Dembele (7/10): Always wants to get on the ball, Dembele was sometimes unplayable while at times he was poor with his gameplay. But one thing for sure, Dembele’s presence had the Schalke defense occupied throughout the game.
Mario Gotze (8.5/10): Probably the best player against Schalke. Gotze is finally starting to show his magic after a slow start to the season. The former Bayern man made a few dribbles and created a chance for himself but the shot was just wide but overall Gotze was fantastic against the Royal Blues.
Shinji Kagawa (6.5/10): Was important in the buildup phase but his influence started to fade in the second half after he made some poor passes and got dispossessed off the ball easily enough.
Christian Pulisic (6/10): The American wonder kid failed to show his credentials against Schalke as he often got bettered by Sead Kolasinac but did made a few dangerous crosses in the second half.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (7/10): The Gabonese International was toothless as he was given no service by the Dortmund attackers. He did however look sharp when he got onto the ball including a neat volley which missed the target by inches.
Substitutes
Andre Schurrle (NA): The German International came on late in place of Kagawa but didn’t have enough time to change the game on its head.
Raphael Guerreiro (6/10): Completely changed the dynamics of the game after coming on for Felix Passlack in the second half. Coming on the back of an injury, the Portuguese international was very active but he too was not given enough time to settle into the game.
Sebastian Rode (NA): Rode came on in the final stages of the game in place of Dembele and settled in a defensive position just to make sure that Dortmund didn’t concede of a Schalke counter attack.
