Arsenal won with their last kick of the game as they secured all three points against a Burnley side who have been very impressive at Turf Moore. The Gunners knew it perfectly well that they are in for a real test against the Clarets and keeping their concentration would be the key. With the home side remaining very compact and defending well, Arsenal found it very difficult to break them down but finally they scored the goal in a bit controversial fashion to grab another victory. Let’s take a look at how the Arsenal players fared in the game on a total of 10.
Petr Cech (6/10)
Usual outing for the goalkeeper where he didn’t have much to do but was up to the task when he was called upon. Distribution was a bit off the mark today.
Hector Bellerin (6/10)
Passed the ball well but couldn’t be as influential as he would have liked in the forward areas. His crossing was poor today.
Shkodran Mustafi (7/10)
Had a match today in the form of Sam Vokes who gave him a real contest but the German stood tall and came out on top winning 5/7 tackles and making 13 successful clearances.
Laurent Koscielny (7/10)
Another commanding display at the back from the Captain as he kept a clean sheet and scored the goal which earned his team the victory.
Nacho Monreal (7/10)
Another consistent display from the Spanish fullback who covered his flank beautifully today winning almost all of his tackles and making 3 interceptions and 5 clearances to help his team get another clean sheet.
Granit Xhaka (7/10)
Played in the holding role and impressed with his accurate passing. Was able to provide the defensive cover in the midfield that was needed.
Santi Cazorla (7.5/10)
Gave a passing masterclass from the deep midfield position today with his 98% passing accuracy. Kept things flowing in the middle allowing others to move forward.
Mesut Ozil (5.5/10)
Had a poor game today offensively where he couldn’t create anything productive in the forward areas. Had 90% pass success rate but was unable to influence the game.
Theo Walcott (6.5/10)
Worked hard but struggled to get in behind the defence. Showed good movement and also had 5 shots but was poor in his passing. Provided the assist for the goal though which helped Arsenal win.
Alex Iwobi (5/10)
Not the best of days for the youngster. Wasted some good opportunities with horribly wayward shots and looked very innocuous with his gameplay as well.
Alexis Sanchez (7.5/10)
Not the performance of a center forward as he struggled to make any impact as the lone striker again against a deep lying defence but caused plenty of problems with his movement dropping deep and linking up with the midfielders. His passing was poor but the Chilean created 8 chances for his teammates, had 4 shots on goal, made 4 blocks and completed 6 of his 8 attempted take on to leave his impact on the game.
Subs
Oxlade-Chamberlain (5/10)
Was involved in the goal as it was his shot which hit Koscielny to go into the Burnley goal
Elneny (6.5/10)
Excellent in his passing and helped retain the momentum in the midfield after Xhaka was subbed.
